Translation status
Every language edition of this site, page by page: what is translated, what has been reviewed, and what is waiting. This page rebuilds itself from the site's own records every time something changes.
A translation goes through three steps before it goes live. It is drafted, then read beside the English by a second AI model that checks meaning, hedges and facts, and finally signed off by a native speaker. The review model is shown in brackets: Fable is the full review, and an Opus review is a first pass until Fable has read the page too. Only that last step publishes a page, with one exception, described below: an edition published while its volunteer reviewers are still reading it. Drafts are online but not linked or indexed, so a reviewer can read them in place. The research behind each edition's local help lines, laws and examples is kept per country and checked at its sources.
Published under volunteer review
Sometimes a translation is needed before its review can be finished, for example when a country is about to vote. Then we may publish a whole edition while native speakers who volunteer for this site are still reading it. Every page of such an edition says so in a bar at the top, in its own language, and none of them claims a native speaker's review. The pages have been drafted and read beside the English by a second AI model, as above. The volunteers go on reading every page beside the English and send their corrections, which we make as they come in. When every page has been read and all the feedback is dealt with, the bar comes off. Published this way now: Portuguese (Brazil).

The languages below are listed by priority: planned editions start in this order, a language not yet planned shows where it would stand, and one that is deferred or "not now" keeps its place without a number. The order comes from a method of prioritisation we are still working on, built on the indices available now: how many people could read an edition online (speakers of the language who can read, among those who use the internet), weighed against how much of their information reaches them through social feeds, how little platform law protects them, how far the state controls information, how divided their society is, and whether a national vote is coming. Who reviews an edition, and what it costs, are left out: they decide when the work can begin, not where it is needed. The method follows the OECD and JRC handbook on composite indicators, and its figures come from the United Nations (population), the International Telecommunication Union (internet use, through the World Bank), UNESCO (adult literacy), DataReportal (social-media use, an industry estimate), Reporters Without Borders (press freedom), V-Dem (polarisation and false information) and national records (speakers, platform laws and the dates of votes). Some of these are estimates or expert judgements, so we are checking the weakest of them and looking for better ones, and the method will get a page of its own once others have had a chance to question it.
